Darlene Lafratte

Darlene LaFratte passed away Saturday, February 29, 2020, at the Madison County Memorial Hospital at the age of eighty-five years, eleven months, and nineteen days.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home Winterset Chapel, with family present to receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 5 at the funeral home with burial to follow in the Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.

Frances “Darlene” LaFratte, the daughter of John and Delpha (Garrison) King was born March 10, 1934 in Warren County, Iowa. Darlene graduated from Martensdale High School. She was united in marriage to Anthony “Tony” LaFratte on November 22, 1952 in Churchville, Iowa. She was a member of the Churchville Catholic Church Altar and Rosary Society and sang in the church choir.

Darlene is survived by her children: Jane (Sid) Klug of Winterset, John (Shirley) LaFratte of Winterset, Bob (Vet) LaFratte of West Des Moines, Patty (Mitch) Tull of Waukee, and Angie Smith of Winterset; five grandchildren: Shelley Klug, Steve Klug, Brandy Rynearson, Marcy Boldman, and Brad LaFratte; eleven great-grandchildren: Lannie Davis, Austin Klug, Lexis Nittler, Chantz Nittler, Makayla Rynearson, Trenton Rynearson, Emily Rynearson, Tyler LaFratte, Grace LaFratte, Cael Boldman, and William Boldman; and four great-great-grandchildren: London Davis, Tallen Davis, Bridger Davis, and Journey Davis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Delpha (Garrison) King; husband, Anthony “Tony” LaFratte; daughter, Sue Southwick; son-in-law, Kenny Smith; and sister, Delores Callahan.
