Napoleon Bonaparte Pitts, former Wiscotta resident died at his home in Woodburn, Iowa, January 1st and was buried at Earlham on January 3rd.

Napolean B. Pitts, son of William Henry Harrison Pitts and Mary Ann Hutchins Pitts, was born July 18, 1868 at Elkhart, Ind., and departed this life at his home in Woodburn, Ia., Jan. 1, 1941, aged 72 years, 5 months, 13 days.

At the age of about two years he with his parents came to Dallas county, Ia., where they made their home.

On Sept. 6, 1891, he was united in marriage to Eliza Ann Bales and to this union were born three daughters; Mary Lucinda Fee who preceded her father in death in 1817; Fannie Mae, having passed to the beyond in 1909 and Emma Louise Pitts of Osceola Ia.

In March, 1927, Mr. Pitts, his wife and daughter Emma came to Clarke county where they have since resided. On Oct. 25, 1935, the death messenger claimed his wife.

Since that time he has lived alone at his home in Woodburn, making frequent visits to friends and relatives at Adel and Earlham.

He leaves to mourn his passing his daughter Emma Pitts, four grandchildren, Myrtle Anne Pitts, Ernest Fee of California, Nellie Morris of Laws, Calif., Louise Collins of Des Moines, Ia., one brother, Albert Pitts of Redfield, Ia., two sisters, Mrs. R. C. Mendenhall of Earlham, Iowa; Mrs. D. E. Countryman of Adel, Iowa; three great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Uncle Bona as the children of his home town called him will be long remembered by his little friends. Burial was made by the side of his wife at Earlham.

Pall bearers were: Lawrence Marquis, Orville Gardner, Charles McCluer, Glenn Allen, Gus Fuller, John Crist.

Music was rendered by Dorothy Evans, Mable Crist, Lue Terhune, Gurnea Marquis, pianist, Cora Cottrell.
