Charles Elmer Mitchell

Charles Elmer Mitchell, son of Edward and Margaret Mitchell was born in Trenton, New Jersey, February 14, 1882, and died at the Greater Community hospital in Creston, June 25, 1935, aged 54 years, 4 months and 11 days.

When a child he came to Iowa, settling at Glenwood where he grew to manhood. He was married to Bertha Williams of Glenwood, February 14, 1905. Six sons and two daughters were born to them, Margaret Binns and John Mitchell of Winterset; Edward, Dale, Eldon and Dorothy Mitchell at home; two sons died in infancy.

Except for a year spent in Guthrie county, his entire married life was spent in Madison and Union counties. He was converted when a boy and about 16 years ago became a member of the Pleasant View Methodist church in Madison county.

Mr. Mitchell was a man who loved nature, the wooded hills, the birds and the flowers. He leaves beside his immediate family five sisters, and other relatives.
