Former Winterset Resident Stricken Suddenly, Died Thursday
Warner Forbes, former resident of Winterset who had been living at Port Lookout, Mo., since 1951, died there Thursday, Dec. 26, of a sudden heart attack. He was 52 years of age.
Mr. Forbes was born Jan. 20, 1911, at Ladora, Ia., a son of David and Lyra Freeman Forbes. Much of his life was lived in the Winterset community, where he was employed at the United Food market for many years.
He moved to Missouri in 1951 and had been employed as a herdsman at the School of the Ozarks at Pt. Lookout.
He was married in Winterset Feb. 15, 1933, to Mabel Rogers, who survives him. He also leaves two sons, Robert of Hammond, Ind., and Jim of Kirbyville, Mo., a daughter, Linda, of Springfield, six grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Nina Little of Winterset.
Funeral services were held Saturday from Williams chapel at the School of the Ozarks, with the Rev. R. M. Good, and the president of the school, the Rev. M. Graham Clark, officiating. Burial was made, with Masonic ritual, at Ozark Memorial Park cemetery at Branson, Mo.
Those attending the services from this area included Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Wilson of Orient, Mrs. Kathleen Addy, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Banks, Joe Banks, and Mr. and Mrs. Dean Kuntz, all of Winterset, Mrs. Dawn Clipperton, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Bodtke and Janice Wilson, all of Des Moines, and Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Adams of Creston.
