A letter from Trumbull White states that his half brother, Claire, is dead. Old residents will remember Claire White as the oldest sone of John T. White, of the firm of Munger & White. He grew to manhood in Winterset and after his brother, Trumbull, became editor of Everybody's magazine, went to New York. He was an actor of much ability and the writer of several plays

Claire Sheldon White, known professionally as Harry Sheldon, for forty-five years an actor, theatrical manager, agent and author, died in New York City on December 7, after a short illness. He was born at Winterset, Iowa, March 7, 1861, the son of John Trumbull White and Clara Shaw White, attended college at Grinnell, Iowa in the class of ’81, and since his twentieth year had been in the theatrical business.
After a Long experience as manager of touring companies in the west he became a dramatic agent in Chicago and for the last five years had been in the same business in New York. He was the author of several comedies and melodramas widely used by stock and touring companies.
He is survived by a daughter in Chicago, a sister in Carmel, California, and two brothers, Frank G. White, chief engineer of the San Francisco Harbor commission, and Trumbull White, an editor in New York.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. C. N. Moller, of Trinity church Wednesday morning, December 9. Interment was at Kensico.
