Thomas Duane Allen, 71, passed away October 5, 2019 at the Central Iowa VA Hospital in Des Moines. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 11, 2019 at Seventh Day Adventist Church (903 W. Summit Street Winterset, IA 50273). Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be directed to the family for a future donation of their choosing.

Tom was born March 26, 1948 in Winterset, to Thomas Allen and Irene (Mabbit) & James Kephart. Following High School in Winterset, he enlisted in the United States Army during Vietnam. After he was honorably discharged, Tom went into the trucking industry, where he went on to be a semi-truck driver for the next 40 years. In his free time, Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing and grilling a sirloin steak with his son, JJ. He attended the Seventh Day Adventist church and liked going to bible study with his church friends. Most importantly, Toms pride and joy was his family and grandchildren, he loved spending time with them more than anything.

Tom is survived by his son, JJ (Heather) Allen of Winterset, grandchildren: Katrina, Prescott, JR, Jackson and Charlie, JJ’s mother, Anita Allen and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
