Per her wishes cremation has taken place and a celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Cards of condolence may be sent to the family in care of Johnson Family Funeral Home, PO Box 119, Earlham, IA 50072.

Violet was born on July 4, 1925 to Clarence and Mae (Goodwin) Hoffman in Clarinda, Iowa. She grew up in Clarinda and attended Clarinda Schools. In 1953, she was united in marriage to Dale Collins. The couple made their home outside of Waukee. Dale passed away in 2001. She later married Clifford Rogers in 2003 until his passing in 2009. Violet also lived in Sheldahl, Ankeny, and Earlham before lastly settling in Ankeny where she remained the rest of her life. Violet worked at Iowa Lutheran Hospital as a Nurse’s Aide from 1947-1982 before her retirement.

She was a member of the Baptist Church in Slater and through this membership she and Cliff were able to take a mission trip to Africa. Violet was an excellent cook and baker and was known for her fried chicken, apple pies and always having ice cream in the freezer for her grandchildren. She loved tending to her flowers and gardening. Violet enjoyed crocheting and made stuffed bunnies and outfits for her grandchildren’s Barbie’s. Most of all she treasured time she was able to spend with her family; as family get-togethers and the annual Easter egg hunts were her favorites.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Mae Hoffman; two husbands, Dale Collins and Clifford Rogers; son, Jim; 15 siblings; several nieces and nephews and many beloved friends.

Violet leaves behind her children: Peggy Wright, Joetta Winkel and Richard Collins; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends that will miss her dearly.
