Daniel Le Roy Conard

Daniel Conard, age 51, of West Des Moines, Iowa passed away on Tuesday September 3rd, the result of a tragic accident.

Daniel was born in Des Moines, Iowa and raised in Winterset, Iowa. He graduated from Winterset High School in 1986. He then went to Word of Life Bible Institute in Pottersville, NY, graduating in 1988. Daniel started his first business, DC Contracting, at the age of 19. He worked as a carpenter, contractor and/or consultant in the construction trade the remainder of his life. He was a very talented tradesman, his perfectionism and desire to always make people happy drove him to be the best that he could be in any project he worked on.

Dan married his wife, Lisa, in 1996. They raised three beautiful girls together. His greatest joy was his family. He loved to take family vacations and explore nature. He loved going to the lake with his dogs. Dan was very involved with his neighborhood; he knew everyone’s name and was always looking out for all of them. His very large heart was well known, if he could help, he did. Dan loved being active (he never was still very long) he loved golf, playing pool, frisbee golf, and going to UFC fights. One of his greatest passions was children, he was able to connect with kids and make them feel truly special while also having so much fun, he took his many nieces and nephews out all the time. He took them to the lake, camping, on nature adventures, and got into all sorts of mischief. He loved telling jokes and funny stories, he loved life and had the strongest desire to spread joy. He also loved spreading the love of Jesus Christ. He wanted the whole world to know what a wonderful savior he had.

Daniel is survived by: his parents, Kenneth and Carol of Winterset; his wife, Lisa of West Des Moines; three daughters, Tori and her husband Keon, Rebekah and Emily of Des Moines and West Des Moines; three brothers and sisters-in-laws, Joel of Newton, Jeremy and Heidi of La Grange, Texas, Jamie and Kim of Winterset, Cindi of Winterset, and Danielle of Winterset. He is also survived by his Mother and Father in-law, numerous brother and sisters-in-law on his wife’s side and thirty nieces and nephews.

There will be a visitation at 10 am Thursday, September 12, 2019 followed by a memorial service at 11 am at Des Moines First Assembly (2725 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines). A reception will follow.
