Eugene H. Farlow, 79, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2019, at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines.

Eugene (Gene) was born January 26, 1940 in Winterset, IA to Ralph R. and Neva M. (Bullock) Farlow.

Gene graduated from Winterset High School in 1958 and he served in the United States Army from 1963 – 1965.

In 1987 he started employment with the Madison County Secondary Roads Department until his retirement in 2005 as a road grader operator.

Gene was an excellent pool player in his younger years. He enjoyed fishing, coon hunting on mules, loved animals and enjoyed family and his grandchildren.

On June 12, 1993, he married –his Patty, as he always called her—whom he is survived by.

Also left to cherish his memory are his sons, Kelly (Sonja) of Auburn, Wash., Kris (Melissa) of Ridgecrest, Calif., and Kurt (Kristina) of Des Moines; step sons Michael Lemon (fiancé Kahlen Chang) of Winterset and Scott (Bernadette) Lemon of Winterset; eight grandchildren, Jessica (Kyle) Woods of Ridgecrest, Calif., Ashley Farlow of Ridgecrest, Calif., David Farlow of Auburn, Wash., Alicia Farlow of Auburn, Wash., Jasper Farlow of Minneapolis, Minn., Ronan Farlow of Des Moines, Ava Lemon of Winterset and Teaghan Lemon of Winterset; sister, Marilyn Briggs of Elmhurst, Ill; and many friends and extended relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph (Ike) and Neva (Bullock) Farlow; sister, Joyce Ann Farlow; and brother-in-law, Robert Briggs.

No funeral services are planned at this time. A celebration of life and burial at Winterset Cemetery will be held at a later date. Memorial may be directed to the family.
