Winterset, IowaDonald J. Lynch, 86, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at his home near Cumming, Iowa.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at Caldwell Parrish Winterset Chapel with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 13 at St. Patrick’s Irish Settlement, with burial to follow in the St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family and online condolences can be left at caldwellparrish.com.
Donald Joseph Lynch, son of James and Susie (McLaughlin) Lynch, was born January 7, 1933 in Lee Township in Madison County. He graduated from Martensdale High School in 1950. Donald was united in marriage with Marilyn Lee (Goodrich) Lynch on June 19, 1954; six children were born to this union.
Donald was a member of St. Patrick’s Irish Settlement Church and served on the Martensdale-St. Mary’s School Board for several years. He spent his life working as a farmer in Northeast Madison County.
Donald is survived by his children, Mary Pat (Jim) Wiedmann of Prole, Katie Towers of Scranton, Tim (Rita) Lynch of Prole, Mike (Cecilia) Lynch of Bristow, VA, Anne (John) Nelson of Des Moines, and Peggy Lynch (Mike Johnson) of Kellerton; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; brother, John Lynch of Cumming; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marilyn; brother, Francis Lynch; and sisters-in-laws, Dorothy Lynch and Joan Lynch.
