PHILOMATH—Mrs. Dessa Ivy Lucas, 78, Philomath, a resident of Benton and Linn counties for about 70 years, died Tuesday in a Corvallis hospital.
She came here about 40 years ago from Scio where she had lived from childhood. She belonged to Philomath Evangelical Brethren Church.
She was a native of Iowa.
Surviving are the widower Coral, Philomath; sons Chet, Brandon, Bill, Terrebonne, Darrel, Libby, Mont., and Max, Portland; daughters Mrs. Thelma Means, Philomath, and Mrs. Joyce Brown, Monmouth; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday in DeMoss-Durdan mortuary, Corvallis, Rev. Walter C. Hines officiating. Burial will be in Franklin Butte Cemetery, Scio.

Dessa Ivy Lucas, 78, a Philomath resident for the past 40 years, died Tuesday at a local hospital.
The daughter of William and Ella Lee, she was born March 19, 1890, at St. Charles, Iowa. At the age of 11, she moved with her family to Whidbey Island, Wash., later moving to Scio.
On Dec. 23, 1908, she was married to Coral Alton Lucas at Scio where the couple made their home until 1928 when the moved to Philomath.
Mrs. Lucas was a member of the Philomath Evangelical United Brethren Church.
Besides her husband, she is survived by four sons, Chet Lucas, Brandon; Bill Lucas, Terrebonne; Darrel Lucas, Libby, Mont., and Max Lucas, Portland; two daughters, Mrs. Thelma Means, Philomath, and Mrs. Joyce Brown, Monmouth; 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the DeMoss-Durdan Funeral Home with Rev. Walter C. Hines officiating. Interment will follow in the Franklin Butte cemetery at Scio.
