Omer Earl Simpson, 88, of Creston, died at 5:50 a.m. Sunday at Greater Community hospital here. He had been in the hospital for about two weeks.
Mr. Simpson had lived in Creston since 1945. His home was at 602 North Poplar Street. He had lived in Macksburg before moving to Creston and had been a carpenter before retiring in 1952.
The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Coen’s Home for Funerals. Rev. Henry Stoll, pastor of Trinity Lutheran church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Moon cemetery at Macksburg. His family will be at the funeral home from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. tonight.
A memorial fund is being established for Trinity Lutheran church and contributions may be left at the funeral home.
Omer E. Simpson was born at Macksburg, April 25, 1886. He was the son of John F. and Emma Gilbert Simpson. He was married at Macksburg in 1912 to Lena Campbell.
He is survived by two sons, Earl Simpson and Dave Simpson, both of Creston; two daughter, Erna Barnes of Creston and Fern Mohr of Elkhart; 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Lora Ritter of Winterset. A daughter, Marie, preceded him in death at the age of 6.
