Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home – Collins Chapel
Winterset, IowaMarjorie Jane Underwood, 90, of Winterset, Iowa has joyfully entered into her heavenly home, joined with our Loving Father, on Friday, February 22, 2019, at Mt. Ayr Health Care Center in Mt. Ayr, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 28, 2019, at New Bridge Church in Winterset. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the serve at the church. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery. Following the burial, the family welcomes friends back to the church for a time of fellowship. Memorial may be directed to her family for a future designation.
Marge was born in Belle Plaine, IA to the late Harold and Lenora May Shoemaker on July 2nd, 1928. Marge married her love Floyd Underwood on November 22, 1959 in Des Moines. Together, they had two children, Linda and Barb. Prior to her marriage to Floyd, Marg had 6 children Virginia, Kenny, Sara, Mary, Kathy and Robert. Marge and Floyd celebrated their 35th anniversary together before his death in 1995. Marge loved raising her children to be filled with grace and love.
Marge’s most beloved memories were spending time with her children and their families when they came to visit with her. Marge enjoyed socializing with her friends and bringing her family to enjoy a meal together at Montross Café, often followed by with taking a stroll around the town square. Marge loved making her home inviting to all visitors, near and far. She would also spend hours talking in person and on the phone. Marge’s greatest pride was in her faith, prayer life, and her ability to trust in Him to carry her through life. Marge was radiant in God’s love for all people in her life.
Marge is survived by her daughters, Virginia Brownrigg, Linda (Guy) Bulock and Barbara (Craig) Berry; daughter-in-law, Tami Daniel; grandchildren, Danny, Tammy, Dean, Chris, Mark, Kelly, Jamie, Ginger, Chad, Angela, Alisha, Bobbie, Darrell, Levi, Whitney, Misty, Brandon, Alex, Jason and Justin; 56 great grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; siblings, Andy Powell and Rita Shoemaker; along with numerous extended family.
Marge was preceded in death by her beloved parents Lenora and Harold Shoemaker; loving husband, Floyd Underwood; children, Kenny Moore, Sara Conley, Mary Smith, Kathy Matlage and Robert Daniel; son-in-law, Bill Brownrigg; siblings, Larry Shoemaker and Mary Sargent; and grandchildren Angela Berg and Chris Moore.
