Wayne was born on November 23, 1939 to Donald Fred and Frances Ella Fouts Fastle in Dexter, Iowa. He lived his entire life in and around Earlham. Wayne graduated from Earlham High School with the class of 1958. Wayne joined the United States Army National Guard and served from 1958 to 1961. Following his discharge he continued to serve his country in the Army Reserves until 1964. Wayne was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Donna Belle Adkins in 1961 in Pitzer. To this union two daughters were born, Susanne and Jeannette. The family made their home in Earlham; where Wayne resided until moving into the Stuart Community Care Center in 2018.

Wayne worked with Harris Construction as a heavy equipment operator, Inman Oil, Farm Land Industries, and Farmers Elevator of Earlham before going into business with his wife Donna, where they drove for their own semi-truck business. Wayne and Donna drove for several years, and for many years were on the road for 360 days a year. After their trucking career, Wane continued to drive trucks for various other trucking firms before semi-retirement and worked part time with the Earlham Elevator until fully retired. Wayne was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church in Earlham. He was a past trustee and elder of the church and later on became the church’s maintenance man. Wayne loved his church, which was a source of hope and inspiration for both he and Donna. He enjoyed watching Nascar, being around trucks, mowing, rose gardening and most of all, Wayne enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his biological father which passed when Wayne was a toddler, Donald Fastle, mother, Frances Price and stepfathers, Frank Hill and Lewis Price.

Wayne leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved daughters, Susanne Jones of Urbandale, Iowa, and Jeanette (John) Fullerton of Willow Spring, NC; granddaughters: Chelsea (Joel) Roney, Haley (Robert) Schaeffer, Taylor Fullerton, Kayla Hull; great-grandchildren: Lucas Mizzell, Cadence Roney, Hunter Schaeffer; and a host of extended family and friends that will miss him dearly.
