Winterset, IowaLeRoi Beers, 94 of Winterset died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2019.
LeRoi Alvin Beers was born in Des Moines to Bert Anthony Beers and Tora Sorensen Beers on Feb. 10, 1924. He graduated from Roosevelt High School. He married Evelyn Wallace on June 11, 1944.
LeRoi lived in Des Moines all his life, except the last three years when he moved to Winterset Care Center North. His jobs included the ordinance plant in Ankeny during World War II, John Deere, Jewel Tea, Hiland Dairy, Borden Dairy, Prairie Farms Dairy, Reliable Rug and the Meredith Family. He liked fishing, boating, trading cars, singing, cappuccino, BINGO, woodworking, camping and traveling. He was affiliated with the Lutheran Church and the last three years enjoyed the church services at the care center.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; his parents; and his sister, Florabelle.
He is survived by children, Diana Johnson (Paul) of Johnston, Linda Anderson (Glen) of Winterset and Allen Beers of Des Moines; grandchildren, Kimberly, Eddie, Lynda, Paul, Michael and Jeff; Woody, Andrew, Emma, Allen and Aaron; many great-grandchildren and several great great-grandchildren.
