Karen Louise DeWinter

Karen Louise DeWinter, 68, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2019, surrounded by her family at her daughter’s home in Johnston. Services will be held 2p.m. Monday January 21, at Iles-Westover Chapel, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Cremation will follow services.

Karen was born July 29, 1950, in Phillips, WI, to Erwin and Roma (Lehnhardt) Arndt. She was raised in Walnut, IA and graduated from Walnut High School in 1968. In November of 1974 she married Terry DeWinter and they made their home in Albion, IA. After Terry passed away Karen went back to college to get her Associates Degree from DMACC. She entered the workforce as a paralegal and later worked as a dispatcher for Madison Co, Dallas Co, and the City of West Des Moines.

Karen is survived by her daughter, Andrea (Tyler) Harper and two grandsons, Noah and Logan Harper, all of Johnston. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her infant daughter, April DeWinter and her stepson, Jason DeWinter.
