Zola Genieve Estes

Zola Genieve Estes, 98, of Osceola, died January 4, 2019. She was born near St. Charles, the daughter of Elsie Miles and James Lathrum.

In 1942 she married Dwight Estes. They lived most of their lives in Osceola. When Dwight was serving in the Pacific during WWII, Zola worked in an ordnance plant. She also worked for Kimmel’s Little Store and for Furnas Electric.

Zola enjoyed fishing, reading, watching sports on TV, and working Sudoku puzzles.

She was preceded in death by Dwight - her husband of 54 years - and by her siblings Lester, Loyd, Hazel, Ivan, and Doyle.

She is survived by daughters Diane Olsen (Frank) of Cedar Rapids and Bonnie Goodvin (Larry) of Corning as well as grandchildren Tracy Bull/Spurrier, Richard Goodvin, and Susan Sevcik. Great-grandchildren include Lotus, Spencer, Addison, Emma, and Avery.

Memorials can be made to the United Methodist Church in Osceola, the Truro Public Library, or CHI Hospice. Arrangements are pending at Kale Funeral Home for burial.
