Services for Lyle E. Shutt 67, of 3130 9 1/2 St., Rock Island, who died Tuesday, will be at 10 Monday morning in Knox-Larson Funeral Home. The Rev. Lawrence Carlton, pastor of St John’s Methodist Church, Davenport, will officiate, and burial will be in National Cemetery, Arsenal Island.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 Saturday night.
Mr. Shutt died in Veterans Hospital, Iowa City.
He was born Nov. 14, 1897, in Winterset, Ia., a son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Shutt. He attended Winterset schools, and married Josephine Porter Sept. 2, 1921, in Truro, Ia. She died in 1958.
He moved to Davenport in 1939, and to Rock Island in 1959. He married Mrs. Martha Hancks June 26, 1959, in Davenport.
Mr. Shutt was a leather worker at Rock Island Arsenal, retiring in 1960. He was a veteran of World War I.
He was a member of St. John’s Methodist Church.
Surviving are the widow; two sons, Fletcher E., Santa Ana, Calif., and Dick of East Moline; four grandchildren; four stepsons, William Hancks of Rock Island, Oscar of East Moline, and Marvin and Warren Hancks, both of Moline; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Fred Birmont, Rock Island; 11 step-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Nina Fletcher, Des Moines, Mrs. Edith Young, Omaha, Neb., Mrs. Lula Barber, Des Moines, and a brother, Edward, Des Moines.
An infant daughter and two brothers preceded him in death.
