Mr. Shannon died seven years ago and four years since Mrs. Shannon married E. C. Tigh of Omaha, Neb. She joined the M. E. church when a little child, and was a faithful member all her lifetime.
Funeral services were held this afternoon at 3 o’clock from the home of Mrs. Harry Swanson, 2701 High street, the Rev. O. W. Fifer of Grace M. E. church officiating.
Mrs. Sarah Martin Shannon Tigh was born Jan. 10, 1845, at Greencastle, Ind., and died at Wise Memorial hospital in Omaha, Aug. 13, 1912. The body was brought to Des Moines for burial by her daughter, Mrs. Harry Swanson, 2701 High street.
She came to Iowa with her parents when a child, and was united in marriage to William T. Shannon, March 13, 1862, at Winterset, Ia. To this union were born nine children, six of whom survive her: James and William Shannon of Cedar Rapids, Ia.; Mrs. Harry Tapley of Arcadia; Albert and Harry Shannon.
