BOONESTEEL – Funeral services for Walter Wesley King of Bonesteel were held July 1 from the First Baptist Church at Bonesteel, with the Rev. R. J. Feldman officiating.Pallbearers were Leslie Herman, Charles Kimes, Rubin Baldwin, Laurance Taur, Merton Fisher and Archie Pepper. Burial was in the Rosebud cemetery at Bonesteel with the Clausen Funeral Home of Burke in charge of arrangements.
Mr. King, one of the early homesteaders of this area, was born at Winterset, Ia., Oct. 11, 1869 and died at Mitchell June 28.
He came to Gregory County in September 1902. On May 2, 1906, he was married to Miss Jennie Hoar at Fairfax. They were the parents of six children, two of whom died in infancy. A third, Earl L. King, was killed in World War II in Germany in 1945.
Survivors are his widow; one son Dale W., of Pierre and two daughters, Mrs. George Tosh of Evansville, Ind., and Mrs. Edwin Rieb of Parkston and five grandchildren.
