Harry G. Werts, 74, of Des Moines died at home on Thursday, October 4, 2018 after an extended illness. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, October 6 concluding with a 1 p.m. service at Iles Grandview Park Funeral Home.

Harry was born in Earlham, IA on April 25, 1944 to Loyal and Phyllis (Frey) Werts where he graduated from high school in 1962. He then entered the U.S. Navy. Harry and Judy Neades were married on February 14, 1969 and made their home in Des Moines. For over 20 years, Harry worked as an Inside Sales Consultant for Brigg’s Corporation, retiring in 2009.

Harry was a member of the Moose Lodge and the North Side Center. He enjoyed the outdoors, yardwork, golf, bowling and City of Des Moines Men’s League billiards. He loved spending time with friends and family.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Judy; son, Brian (LeAnn) Werts; two granddaughters, Shannon and Lindsey; and three siblings, Richard (Kay) Werts, Dorothy Smith and Carolyn Hibbs. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Werts; sister, Lucy Wycoff; and three brothers-in-law, Bill Smith, Mike Hibbs and Red Wycoff.
