Fred Franklin, former Winterset business man who resided here in the early 1900’s died at his home at 4032 Cottage Grove avenue, in Des Moines, Sunday after an extended illness. His funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 4 at Dunn’s Funeral home and burial was in the Masonic cemetery.
Mr. Franklin was a hardware merchant in Winterset on the east side of the square. He became a member of the Winterset Methodist church in 1906 and was a member of the Masonic lodge. In 1910 he became a member of the Des Moines Consistory with a group of Winterset friends. Later the family moved to Creston for a few years, and then they went to Des Moines, where he was in the wholesale hardware business.
He is survived by his wife and their one son Albert Franklin, a grandson, Albert Jr., and several great grandchildren,
