Mildred Dowler of Lorimor died Monday, June 18, at Madison County Memorial Hospital at the age of 71. She had been a resident of Bethesda Care Center of Winterset for the past year. Services were held Wednesday, June 20, at 1:30 p.m. at the Lorimor United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Hagy officiating. Burial was at Lorimor Cemetery.
Born Feb. 27, 1913, she was the daughter of Ray and Julia Orr Courtney. She married Joe Dowler in August 1931. Her husband died March 20, 1983.
A homemaker, she was a member of the United Methodist Church, Eastern Star and Royal Neighbors.
Survivors include one daughter Barbara King of Lorimor; two sons, Richard of Omaha and Ray of Lorimor; three sisters, Ruth Wearmouth of Lorimor, Esther Fest of Missouri, and Helen Henrich of California; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and one sister.
