Johnston Smith Rites Thursday

Burial in Glendale Cemetery for Retired Farmer.

Funeral services for Johnston W. Smith, 69, of 1159 Twentieth st., retired farmer, will be at 3:30 p. m. Thursday at the E. Carl White funeral home. The Rev. W. L. Ewing will officiate and burial will be in Glendale cemetery.

Mr. Smith died Monday in Iowa Methodist hospital. He had lived in Iowa since he was 22 and in Des Moines for 17 years. He was born in Canada.

Surviving are his widow, three sons, Ivan, Ralph and Clark of Des Moines, five daughters, Mrs. Oscar D. Stone, Mrs. Roy Martens, Mrs. Rupert Gamble, and Mrs. Herbert Richardson, all of Des Moines, and Mrs. Alva Rice of Pasadena, one brother, Charles Smith of Pasadena, four sisters, Mrs. Emma Johnston, Pasadena, and Mrs. Albert Asquith, Miss Esther Smith and Miss Sadia Smith, all of Reynolds, Ill., and 11 grandchildren.
