Earl Ferres Handley, 81, of New Virginia, Iowa died at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa Monday, September 5, 1988. He was born at Lorimor, Iowa June 29, 1907 to Emma Given Handley and Ferres Pierce Handley. He was educated in the Lorimor Schools.
He was married to Loena Lorraine Jackson on March 23, 1929 in Gravity, Iowa. One son, Jack was born to this union.
Earl was Motor Vehicle Inspector for the state of Iowa and had lived in New Virginia, Iowa for over 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife Loena in 1968; parents; two sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include son Jack Handley and wife, Bonnie of Des Moines; grandson, Scott Handley; and granddaughter, Angela Handley; as well as other relatives and a host of friends.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, September 8 at United Methodist Church in New Virginia with Pastor Jim Patrick of Indianola officiating. Burial was in Lorimor Cemetery, Lorimor.
