Retired Farmer Was Prominent Resident of Webster for Many Years.
Lewis H. Givan of Winterset, prominent retired farmer, died Sunday, Nov. 3, at Memorial hospital in Winterset, following a heart attack. He was 75 years of age.
Mr. Givan had retired and moved to Winterset in 1948, after spending his active life as a farmer in Webster township. He was well known in this community, serving as a township trustee and as a member of election boards for many years.
He was born in Madison county Nov. 10, 1883, a son of Robert and Ada McFarland Givan. His life was spent in the county.
Nearest surviving relatives are two brothers, Lloyd R. Givan of Winterset and Carl C. Givan of Macksburg; and five sisters, Mrs. Edith Bevington of Clarinda, Mrs. Merle Brown of Cut Knife, Sask., Canada, Mrs. Ruth Wilson of Salida, Colo., Mrs. Del Tucker of Winterset, and Mrs. Verda Hannon of Atlantic.
Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Collins Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. John Porath, pastor of the First Methodist church of Winterset. Burial was made in the Greenfield cemetery.
