William Eugene Rudolf

William Eugene Rudolf (Gene), 99, passed away at Methodist West/Taylor House Hospice on July 5, 2018.

Gene was born April 25, 1919 in Winterset, Iowa to John and Nancy Rudolf. He married Ruth Stelling on March 31st, 1945. They lived on the farm for 12 years before moving to Des Moines in 1957. Gene served in the Army 510 Engineers. He loved farming and working with his hands. Gene also loved Nascar and being outdoors.

Gene is survived by his sons, Richard (Cecelia) and James (Linda); five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth; daughter, Charlene Rudolf Meyer; two grandchildren; one sister and four brothers.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, from 10:30 to 12:00 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Burial will take place at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Taylor House Hospice.
