Obituary: Miss Jessie, daughter of D. W. (David) and N. J. (Nancy) Gilleland, died at her home near Winterset, March 16, 1894. She was born in Madison county, August 5, 1874 and spent her short life in this vicinity.

The large assembly of friends who met to offer their sympathies were sufficient proof of the high standing of the deceased. The funeral services took place at Worthington church and the burial in Worthington cemetery where relatives have been laid to rest. Quite a number of relatives live in that vicinity.
The old we expect to die, but when one in the bloom of youth is cut down, not only are all their plans for life thwarted, but the ambitions of father and mother are crushed to earth. We hope, as we only can of those who die after years of accountability, that the father’s and mother’s loss is the daughter’s infinite gain. They have the kind wishes and sympathies of a host of friends in their bereavement May God grant unto them an abundance of His grace to sustain them in their sad hour.
