Donna Lou Ritchey, 87, of St Charles died Friday, December 23, 2016, at Westview Care Center in Indianola.
Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., in Osceola, with The Rev. Butch Black and Gerald McEwee officiating. Open visitation will be Tuesday, Dec. 27, at the funeral home with family present from 6;30 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in Liberty Center Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Suncrest Hospice, 5000 Westown Pkwy #104, West Des Moines, IA 50266 or Westview Care Center in Indianola. Donna Lou Ritchey, daughter of Orval Albertus Black and Ada Pearl Tillotson Black, was born Sept. 30, 1929, in Osceola.
Donna received her education in Osceola graduating in 1947.
In 1952, she married H. R. “Bud” Ritchey in Indianola. Donna worked with Bud on the family dairy farm in Warren county and even continued to help her sons for a number of years after Bud’s passing. Donna also received her CNA certification and worked for Dr. Stroy for a time before beginning her work at the Clarke County Hospital, a career that spanned more than 30 years. After her retirement, Donna continued serving others in home health care.
Donna is survived by her children, Rick (Deb) Ritchey of Hammond, Louisiana, Robert Ritchey of Indianola, Roger (Melanie) Ritchey of Indianola, Rhonda (Dan) Doyle of St. Charles and Ramona (Scott) Freeman of St. Charles; grandchildren, Lori (Sean) McAulliffe of Stafford, Virginia, Elizabeth Ritchey of Richmond, California, Richard (Michelle) Ritchey, Jr. of Hammond, Louisiana, Tanya (Jason) McAninch of Norwalk, Lane Ritchey of Indianola, Abe Ritchey of Indianola, Matt (Kelsey) Ritchey of New Virginia, Jake (Samantha) Ritchey of Indianola, Stacie Ritchey of Indianola, Amy (Jordan) Fitch of St. Charles, Justin (Diana) Weeks of St. Charles, Chelsi Weeks of Dallas Center, Ryan (Angie) Freeman of Lacona, Kelcie (Sam) Daniels of St. Charles and Kyle Freeman of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Ronald (Elaine) Black of Brownwood, Texas; brothers-in-law, Donald Stamper of Corydon, Gerald Weeks and Leonard Taylor; sisters-in-law, Pat Green of Osceola and Velma Black; as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents; husband H. R. “Bud” Ritchey; brothers, Orval Black Jr. and Gilbert Black and sister Gloria Stamper.
