Sherley “Sherl” Krell Shearer, 80, of Rancho Mirage died Dec. 30, 2004, in Rancho Mirage.
He was born to Clyde and Zella Krell Shearer in Peru, Iowa.
He married Catherine L. Leland on June 8, 1947, in Iowa City, Iowa.
He was a medical doctor for 50 years including director of radiology at Santa Monica Hospital and served in the Navy.
He was a member of the American Medical Association, a board member at Santa Monica Hospital, a docent at the Living Desert Reserve and a member of the Palm Desert Community Presbyterian Church and its choir.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine Shearer of Palm Desert; five daughters, Teresa S. Bribiesca of Austin, Texas, Nancy A. Sterrett of West Los Angeles, Susan M. Bischoff of Calabasas, Peggy S. Rose of Newport Beach and Julianne S. Senaldi of Sunnyvale; two sisters, Carol Shaw and Dawn Dixon of Iowa; and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Shearer in 1952.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. today at Palm Desert Community Presbyterian Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of FritzHenry Funeral Home Palm Desert Chapel.
The family suggests that donations be made to the American Heart Association in Palm Desert.
