SHIRLEY LOUISE SHAW

Shirley Louise Secrest Shaw, daughter of Leslie E. Secrest and Marianna P. Jurgensen, was born July 6, 1933, in Earlham and died Nov. 13, 1997, at Osceola Nursing and Rehab Center. She was 64.

She received he education in the Des Moines, Sioux Falls, S.D., Luverne, Minn. And Stuart schools. She graduated from Stuart High School.

She married James Leland Shaw on May 9, 1953, in Stuart and the couple became the parents of four children, Steve, Susan, Linda and Jim. Mr. and Mrs. Shaw have lived in Osceola since 1967.

Mrs. Shaw was employed with Southwestern Bell and Northwestern Bell for years, the Clarke County Hospital, along with housekeeping in private homes for several years.

Mrs. Shaw was a member of the Osceola United Methodist Church and a local sorority, Beta Sigma Phi.

Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world. She spent many hours with her grandchildren babysitting and entertaining them.

She was preceded in death by her father in 1933.

Mrs. Shaw is survived by her husband; two sons, Steve Shaw and friend Rita Eckhardt of Osceola and Jim Shaw and his wife, Joyce Shaw, of Murray; two daughters, Susan L. Diehl and her husband, Randy Diehl and Linda Redman, all of Osceola; 14 grandchildren, Erikka Redman of Orlando, Fla., Jordan, Andrew, and Danielle Redman, Matthew, Lindsay and Lance Diehl, Candace and Jaime Shaw and Dillion Eckhardt all of Osceola and Elizabeth, Jeremy, Abigail and Alex Shaw of Murray; mother, Marianna P. Secrest of Stuart; one sister, Ellen Bertsch and her husband, Robert Bertsch, of Griffith, Ind.; one brother, Greg Secrest and his wife, Deb Secrest, of Hot Springs Village, Ark.

Services for Mrs. Shaw were at 10 a.m. Nov. 17 at Kale Funeral Home, the Rev. George Thurman officiating. The organist was Deb Secrest and vocalists were Liz Oehlert and Greg Secrest. Music was His Hand In Mine and I Bowed On My Knees.

Casket bearers were grandsons, Jordan Redman, Andrew Redman, Matthew Diehl, Dillion Eckhardt, Shad Kent and Lance Diehl. Honorary bearers were Erikka Redman, Danielle Redman, Elizabeth Shaw, Lindsay Diehl, Jeremy Shaw, Abigail Shaw, Candace Shaw and Jaime Shaw. Interment was in South Oak Cemetery.
