It is with regret that we record the death of our townsman, M. W. Beem, proprietor of the Central hotel. Mr. Beem came from Iowa in early days and settled tirst in Ness county and then in Wa-Keeney. He has resided here for about fourteen years. The deceased leaves a large family now grown to maturity, who have the sympathy of the community.

Transcriber's note: Per census records, the deceased lived in Madison County, Iowa from about 1855 through about 1878 when he departed for Kansas. First name taken from 1856 Iowa State Census and middle name from 1860 Federal Census. Transcribed as published, the word "tirst" should be "first".
