Mrs. Perrigo Died At Home Friday After Long Illness

Last Rites Held at Methodist Church Sunday; Burial In Summit Hill Cemetery

Mrs. W. B. Perrigo died at her home here Friday morning at 5:00 o’clock following an illness of four years duration. During that time, she suffered from hardening of the arteries which kept her confined to her home for the past year.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock at the Methodist church with Rev. J. R. Kirby, the pastor, in charge. Pallbearers were S. Madsen, John F. Carlson, Guy Whisler, Harry Green, H. H. Winegarden and L. C. Krug. Interment was in Summit Hill cemetery.

Mary Darris, daughter of John and Byrintha Darris, was born in Madison county, Iowa, March 26, 1868. When very young she moved with her family to Dallas county where she grew to womanhood. On March 13, 1889, she was united in marriage with W. B. Perrigo. They farmed for a time in Dallas and Green counties before moving to Pocahontas where they farmed for a number of years before they retired and moved to town.

Eight children were born to this union, 7 of whom survive. They are: John Perrigo and Mrs. Goldie Pomeroy of Laurens, Mrs. Vera Wolfe of Pocahontas, Lester Perrigo of Rolfe, Voshal of Marathon, Delmar of East Moline, Ill., and Mrs. Mamie Lindsey of Mallard. A son, Loyal, died several years ago, following service in World War I.

She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Florence Warner and Mrs. Chas. Grove of Lehigh. Two of her grandchildren are in the service. They are Clyde Perrigo, who has been serving in the South Pacific area for two years, and Staff Sgt. Lee Pomeroy of Laurens who arrived home Friday on Furlough. The latter, a gunner in the air force, had been in the European area since March.

Mrs. Perrigo was a faithful member of the Methodist church from childhood. She was a kind and loving wife and mother with the interests of her family always foremost, even during her long suffering.

Those from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Jenkins of Perry; Mrs. Ervie Perrigo and family of Linden; Mrs. Ocy Darris and son of Rippey; Mr. and Mrs. Lee Darris, Rippey; Mrs. Rhuebe Delp, Grand Junction; Mrs. Mary Lindsey and Mrs. Carl Nielson, Mrs. Ida Pomeroy and Mrs. Mae Cooklin, Laurens; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wolfe, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Eccle, Rolfe; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Sinnett, Gilmore City; Mr. and Mrs. Bob Nichols and Mrs. Roy Busey, Marathon; Mrs. Tom Gilman and Mrs. John Cohon of Ayrshire; and Mrs. John Cornwell of Palmer.
