July 15, 1936 - May 7, 2018Nina Vaughan, 81, of Winterset died Monday, May 7, 2018, at West Bridge Care Center and Rehab in Winterset.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date and burial will be in the Orient Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
Nina Caroline Vaughan, daughter of Jacob and Lelia (Johnson) Kinkennon, was born July 15, 1936, in Adair County, Iowa. She attended school in the Orient area and was a graduate of Orient High School. Nina obtained her CNA and worked at various nursing homes in Greenfield, Creston and Winterset over 25 years.
Nina was a very welcoming mother who never turned away anyone who needed a seat at her table. She was a talented cook who enjoyed feeding the ones she loved. Nina gardened and canned her produce for years. She enjoyed quilting and playing solitaire. Nina especially cherished the time she was able to spend with her family and friends.
Nina is survived by her five children, Ellen (Eric) Marchant of Winterset; Elizabeth (Rod) Faris of Mt. Ayr; Eva Burget of Hampstead, MD; Eileen (Darrel) Turner of Alco, AR; Clarence Vaughan of Earlham; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Harold and Levi Recoy; sister, Lucille Fletchall; daughter-in-law, Jackie Vaughan; and a grandson, William Turner.
