Services for Betty Jean Dooley, 92, who passed away Saturday, April 28, 2018 in Johnston will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at St. Patrick Irish Settlement Catholic Church rural Cumming with burial following in the St. Patrick Irish Settlement Cemetery.
Betty Jean Dooley, the daughter of Howard and Irene (Bates) Crow was born December 4, 1925 in Martensdale, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Clarence Paul Dooley on August 5, 1944 at Camp Pendleton, California. To this union a son Michael was born.
Betty worked for the Federal Government for 30 years retiring in 1986. She and Clarence had lived and farmed north of Bevington, Iowa from 1950 – 1975 then moved to a farm south of Martensdale from 1975 – 1994 when she a Clarence moved into Martensdale. She enjoyed traveling, going to the casino of which she won a Hummer and several ship cruises, Bevington Garden Club, bowling and she thoroughly enjoyed her retirement and her cats.
Survivors include her son, Michael Dooley as-well-as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Dooley; brother Bill Crow and sister, Thelma Powers.
Visitation will be held 4 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 30 at Overton Funeral Home with family present from 5 to 7:30p.m. A rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given the American Cancer Society.
