Page 20, Column 1Ray Henry dies at 79
Ray Henry, 79, of Creston, died at 12:40 p.m. Wednesday at the Greater Community hospital here. He had lived in Creston since 1931 and his home was at 405 west Spencer street.
Mr. Henry was a retired farmer. He had lived in the Lorimor and Thayer communities before moving to Creston in 1931.
His funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the first Baptist church here. Norman Hoag, the pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery. His family will be at the Keating Lindsay funeral home from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday.
A memorial fund has been established for the First Baptist church, of which he was a member.
Ray Henry was born at Bevington, Feb. 24, 1898. He was the son of John R. and Margaret Jones Henry. He was married at Creston on Dec. 28, 1924 to Fay Moore, who survives.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a daughter, Mrs. Bill (Mary) Moore of Council Bluffs; a son, Mark Henry of Kent, Wash.; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Fred (Blanche) Ross of Murray and Mrs. Howard (Frances) Jeffries of Indianola; and two brothers, John Henry of Macksburg and Robbert Henry of Bagdad, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, his parents, three brothers and a sister.

Services were held for Ray Henry, 79, of Creston, at 2 p.m., on Saturday, at the First Baptist church. Rev. Norman Hoag officiated. Music was by Jim Knapp, organist; and Nancy Gates, soloist. Hymns were “Rock of Ages,” and “Saved by Grace.” Casket bearers were Lee Davenport, Kenneth Gatchel, Wallace Molby, Weldon Swigert, Bruce Travis, and Dale Waltersdorf. Burial was in Graceland cemetery.
Mr. Henry died Wednesday at Greater Community hospital. He had lived in Creston since 1931 and was a farmer.
