Jefferson

Opal M. Clopton, 84, of Jefferson died of a blood disorder Saturday at Greene County Medical Center there. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Wright Cemetery in Greene County.

Mrs. Clopton was born in Winterset and had lived in Jefferson most of her life.

She is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Steinfadt of Jefferson and Connie Rookstool of Everett, Wash.; a brother, Cecil Keith of Sioux Center; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after noon today at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson, where the family will be present from 5 to 7 p.m.

Clopton

Graveside services were held Tuesday, Feb. 8, in Wright Cemetery, Greene county, for Opal M. Clopton, 84, longtime Jefferson resident. The Rev. Duane LaCock, pastor of First Baptist Church of Jefferson, officiated.

Arrangements were handled by Slininger-Rossow Funeral Homes Inc. of Jefferson and Grand Junction.

Opal Marie Clopton was born Sept. 24, 1915, near Winterset. She was the daughter of Tomas Benton Keith and Pearl Beard Keith.

Opal lived most of her life in Jefferson. She was known for her decorated eggs, bread dough roses and covered hangers.

On Feb. 5, 2000, Opal Clopton died at Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson. Preceding her in death were her parents and five brothers, Harry, Lewis, Glen, Raymond and Floyd Keith.

Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie Steinfadt and her husband Harold of Jefferson and Connie Rookstool and her husband Don of Everett, WA; a brother, Cecil Keith of Sioux Center; a granddaughter, Laura Broeffle and her husband Steve of Oswego, IL; a grandson Ron Murphy and his wife Michelle of Hesperia, CA; and five great-grandchildren.
