W. R. HOLLINGSWORTH DEAD.

Old Resident of County Dies of Uremic Poisoning.

William R. Hollingsworth, an old resident of the county, died at 10:10 o’clock today at his home, 205 East Webster street, of uremic poisoning. He had been in failing health for a year.

William Riley Hollingsworth was born Jan. 3, 1852, near New London, Ind. He came to Iowa in November 1863, with his father, the late Yates Hollingsworth, and family, who settled on a farm near Quarry. Mr. Hollingsworth had lived in this county ever since the family came here with the exception of eight years.

On March 30, 1875, in this city, Mr. Hollingsworth was united in marriage with Miss Lizzie Ballinger, who survives her husband with two of her five children. The children are Mrs. William Allen, of this city, and Mrs. Vesta Landis, of East Peru. There also survive two brother and four sisters, in the persons of Elijah and J. C. Hollingsworth, of this city; Mrs. Elijah Phay, of Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. F. Pettycrew, of Valentine, Neb; Mrs. G. W. Record, of Baker, Ore., and Mrs Ida Hayes of this city.

Mr. Hollingsworth was a member of Banner Lodge, No. 123, I. O. O. F., of this city.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday forenoon at 10 o’clock from the old Congregational church. The church will be open from 9 until 10. Burial will be in the Rhodes cemetery.

We learn of the death Saturday last, of W. R. Hollingsworth at his home in Marshalltown. His sick spell was of short duration. His funeral occurred on Monday of this week, and his body laid to rest in the cemetery near that city. Mr. Hollingsworth was for a number of years a resident of East Peru where he was an active member of the Christian church, and moved from here about six years ago. We believe since leaving here he identified himself with another church. We believe his family are all dead but his wife and Vesta, now Mrs. Burd Landis of this place.
