October 17, 1952 - March 26, 2018Kenny Smith, 65, of Winterset died Monday, March 26, 2018, at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.
A visitation will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 29, at Ochiltree Funeral Service where family will be present to receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 30, at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset with burial to follow in the Winterset Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to HCI Hospice Care Services.
Kenneth Duane Smith, son of Lucy Johnston, was born October 17, 1952, in Des Moines, Iowa. He attended school in Winterset and graduated from Winterset High School in the Class of 1970. He married Cathy Niblo Allen and two sons were born to this union. Kenny was united in marriage with Angela LaFratte on July 24, 2010, at the Jackson Building in Winterset.
Kenny was a manager at Kings Clothing in Winterset for many years and also worked for Woodmarc. He later worked with his son at Lawns Plus.
Kenny enjoyed spending time outdoors especially caring for his yard and tending to his garden. He was a talented cook who also loved to grill. He liked to listen to country music and watch old westerns. He appreciated muscle cars and always decorated for every holiday. Most of all, Kenny enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was known to play jokes and pranks on them to show how much he cared.
He is survived by his wife, Angie Smith of Winterset; his mother, Lucy Clark of Winterset; children, Chad (Erinn) Smith of Winterset and Wesley (Amber) Smith of Ankeny; sister, Patti (Larry) Arnburg of Earlham; five grandchildren, Madelyn, Reed, Lane, Waverly, and Theodore; extended family and a host of friends.
Kenny was preceded in death by his step-dad, Dave Clark.
