March 28, 1930 - March 22, 2018Richard Myers, 87, of Winterset died Thursday, March 22, at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.
A visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m., Sunday, March 25, at Ochiltree Funeral Service where family will be present to receive friends during this time. Burial will follow in the Webb Cemetery, Warren County. Memorials may be directed to the family for a later designation.
Richard Lee Myers, son of Vodra and Bernice (Vance) Myers, was born March 28, 1930, in Spring Hill, Iowa. He married Betty Lou Van Gilder in 1952 and she preceded him in death in 1984. Richard later married Lavonne Beck on March 24, 1990, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
He worked for Diamond Labs in Des Moines and later worked for the Iowa DOT for many years; mowing, plowing and doing maintenance of the rest area at Altoona.
Richard enjoyed watching westerns and reading.
He is survived by his wife, LaVonne Myers of Winterset; children, Sharon (Rick) Didonato of Waukee, Kathy Myers of Des Moines, and Nancy (Michael) Graham of Des Moines; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Betty Lou Van Gilder; and a sister, Verda Davis.
