The funeral of Mrs. W. B. Jones, who met her death by an accident at her home near Vananda, Mont., September 17, 1917, and whose body was brought to Stuart for burial, was held at the Congregational church Sunday afternoon at two o’clock. The services were in charge of Rev. M. A. Breed, the pastor, and was largely attended by relatives, friends and former neighbors. Burial was made in Oak Grove cemetery beside her daughter Zola. The pall bearers were cousins of Mr. Jones and were R. A. , J. H., and Lloyd Lenocker, Chester, Al and John Jones. Many came from Earlham, and Shannon City, where the family formerly resided to pay their respects to a former neighbor and friend.
Kate Alice Loucks was born in Adair county, Iowa, December 27, 1862, and at death, which occurred September 17, 1917, she had reached the age of 54 years, 8 months and 20 days. March 8, 1882, she was united in marriage to William Byron Jones at the home of her parents in Adair county. Eight children were born to this union, six girls and two boys, seven of whom survive their mother. Zola, the youngest, died at Vananda, Mont., November 15, 1914. The remaining children are: Mrs. W. V. Nellis of Earlham, Iowa; Mrs. J. R. Dunlap, Mrs. V. D. Nichols of Shannon City, Iowa; Mrs. T. S. Giles of Ahles, Mont.; Ivan, Wilma and Clarence of Vananda, Mont. Besides the husband and children there are eight grandchildren, two sisters and three brothers left to mourn her demise.
Up until four years ago the family made their home in Iowa, residing south of Stuart, near Earlham and at Shannon City.
While living south of Stuart, Mrs. Jones united with the Christian church at Fairview and always lived an upright, Christian life. Throughout her life she exemplified her beautiful Christian character and endeared herself to many. After the removal of the family to Montana her home was the meeting place of neighbors and friends where they enjoyed the Christian atmosphere and the singing of church hymns. She had done life’s work and was called to her Heavenly Home, there to live the life eternal.
