Hoyt Kenneth McDonald, the son of Andrew and Kendra (Schirm) McDonald died Wednesday, February 28, 2018. He was born in Des Moines on May 21, 2017.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 5, at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, March 4, at the funeral home, with family present to receive friends during this time.

Memorials may be directed to the family for a later designation.

Hoyt loved life; you could tell by his beautiful smile, no matter what… he was smiling! He loved it when people sang to him and he enjoyed the freedom of being in his walker. Hoyt had a special bond with Penny (his dog sister) and they loved to play together. All this said, he was a very special blue-eyed boy who touched the hearts of so many.

Hoyt is survived by his parents, Andrew and Kendra McDonald; maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Karen Schirm of Stuart; paternal grandparents, Marty and Diane McDonald of Winterset; Uncles and Aunts, Kelsey (Will) Ries of Adel, Chris (Kate) McDonald of Minneapolis, MN; great-grandmothers, Maxine Schirm of West Des Moines, Colleen Nicholl of Winterset; canine companion, Penny; extended family and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents; William Schirm, Richard Kellogg, Ivan Nicholl, Clifford and Rosene Grimm and Jim and Bev McDonald.
