April 12, 1932 - February 15, 2018William "Bill" Drake, 85, of Creston died Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston.
Celebration of Life services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 18, 2018 at the Powers Funeral Home junction of highway 34 and 25 in Creston. Pastor Lonnie Koons will officiate.
Burial will be in Moon Cemetery, south of Macksburg. Memorials are to be established in his name. Online condolences can be given at www.powersfh.com.
William Edwin Drake was born April 12, 1932 in Madison Co., IA to Warren Edwin Drake and Jesse Etoile Young. He was educated in the Macksburg schools.
On August 19, 1956, Bill was united in marriage to Charlotte Irene Drake in Winterset, Iowa. They settled and lived near Macksburg until 1979 where he farmed, then moving to Creston in 1979. Bill drove a concrete truck for Smith Concrete retiring in 2002. Charlotte died in 2013.
Bill is survived by four daughters, Sheryl (husband Robert) Moore of Santa Rosa, Calif.; Barbara Halls of Creston, Deb (husband Steve) Waddingham of Macksburg and Eileen Maynes (significant other John Vansice) of West Des Moines; two sons, Warren (wife Karen) Drake of Macksburg and Mitch (wife Deb) Drake of Grimes; one sister, Nellie Mc Donald of Creston; 11 grandchildren, Angela (Barry) Myhr, Christopher Maynes (Beth), Matthew Maynes, Jordan Maynes, Brandon (Gwen) Waddingham, Brett (Nancy) Waddingham, Robert (Jenn) Moore, Jessie Moore, Karmen (Mike) Sheldahl, William Drake, Josh Drake and 11 great-grandchildren, Benjamin Myhr, Jeremiah Myhr, Irena Symonds, Charlotte Maynes, Max Thompson, Seraphina Moore, Zeke Moore and Jeremy Waddingham, Madelyn Waddingham, Kylie and Westen Sheldahl.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Charlotte.
