Lorimor, Iowa

John A. Lemon, 80, of Lorimor, died on February 7, 2018, at the Mercy Hospice House in Johnston. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on February 19, 2018, at the Winterset Four Square Church.

Surviving are his daughters, Tina Molln of Lorimor and Johnna (Roger) McNeley of Winterset; his grandchildren, Crystal Mick (Chad Thomas) of Lorimor, John R. Lemon of Greenfield, and Brandon Jones of Winterset; his great-grandchildren, Elaina Mick, Sierra Mick, Hunter Thomas, Raelynn Jones, and Sage Jones; and his siblings, Dora Hibdon of Lorimor and William (Betty) Lemon of Osceola.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Janet, and brothers Joseph and James.

John Alvin Lemon was born on December 18, 1937, at Boot Jack Corner, Iowa to Leroy F. and Dorothea (Sheldon) Lemon. He was united in marriage to Janet Louise Parker on March 21, 1958, in Issaquah, WA. Janet preceded him in death in 2015.

His kids called him a “Motor Grader Operator” during the years he worked road construction. Then he spent many years farming, which was his passion. After retirement he joined his wife in flea markets with antiques and collectibles. They spent many hours baking to prepare for their multiple farmers markets. He loved playing cribbage, cards and Yahtzee with
family and friends. John and Janet’s favorite entertainment was casino hopping.

Memorial contributions can be left with the family for future designation.
