“Lottie” Blake Dies Saturday

Funeral services for Charolette May “Lottie” Blake were held Tuesday, October 19, from the Kale Funeral Home in Truro. She died Saturday, October 16, in Broadlawns Hospital in Des Moines. The 2 p.m. services were conducted by the Rev. Richard Hempenius with interment in the New Virginia Cemetery.

Charolette May Blake was born in Delphini, Pennsylvania, and was the daughter of William McQuay and Charolette Moore McQuay. She lived in St. Charles for a number of years and was educated in Madison County. She was united in marriage to Fred Blake on March 15, 1903. Seven children were born to this union.

Surviving relatives include: three daughters, Ana Lyon of Canyonville, Oregon; Avis Ream and husband, Harold of Adel, Iowa; Alice Crawford and husband, John of Osceola; son, Leland Blake and wife, Gladys of Tipton, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and one sister, Anna Thomas of Waynesburg, Pennsylvania.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred in 1953; son, Frank and twin sons, Cecil and Charles in infancy.
