George Woodrow “Barney” Cly, 84, was born January 13, 1913 at Dexter, Iowa to George and Emily Belle Firkins Cly. He attended school at Dexter.

In 1942 Woodrow entered the US Navy as a shipfitter until his discharge in 1945.

Woodrow married Marie and together they farmed in the Dexter area until her death in 1972. On June 19, 1980 he married Altha Carroll Quigley. In 1981 they moved to Colorado where they operated a motel for several years. In 1993 they returned to Bagley where they made their home.

Woodrow was a member of the Dexter Presbyterian Church, American Legion, V.F.W. and Stuart I.O.O.F.

October 26, 1997 Woodrow died at his home in Bagley. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marie and one sister Mary, a step grandson and step great granddaughter.

He is survived by his wife Altha of Bagley, step sons Carroll “Jerry” Quigley, Yuma, Arizona, Larry Quigley, Omaha, Nebraska and Phillip Quigley, Boone; step daughter Nina Mace, Jefferson; 16 step grandchildren; 36 step great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Kathrine Clayton of Dexter and Helen Perez of San Jose, California; 4 nephews, 3 nieces and many cousins.

Memorial services were October 29, 1997 at Beidelman Funeral Home in Panora. Interment was in Penn Center Cemetery, Dexter.
