Josephus Lowe died at his residence in Wayne county, Iowa. Josephus Lowe, brother of O. Lowe of this city, was born in Fayette county, Penn., September 11, 1839. In 1859 he moved with his parents to Van Buren county, Iowa. Then five years afterwards he moved with his parents to Madison county, Iowa.

In the year 1865 he was married to Miss Susanah G. Holmes. To this union were born eight children, five of whom survive him.

He died of cancer of the stomach but bore his sickness with patience, trusting Him who is able to comfort the faithful. He joined the church of the living God in 1882 and was a faithful member to the end.

The funeral was conducted by Rev. D. A. White after which the remains were interred in Last Chance cemetery.

Coordinator's note: Per census records, it appears that the deceased lived continuously in Clarke County from before 1870 through 1900.
