ASHLEY A. DUDNEY OF TRURO DIES

Ashley A. Dudney of Truro, a lifelong resident of Madison county, died Monday, March 31 at Truro. He was 78 years of age.

Mr. Dudley was born in Madison county Aug. 25, 1890, a son of Abraham and Laura Douglas Dudley. His life was spent in farming, but he had been retired in recent years.

He was a member of the Methodist church at Truro.

Mr. Dudney was married at Osceola Sept.12, 1914, to Enid Shanon, who survives him. There were no children born of the marriage, and his three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held last Wednesday from the Kale Funeral home in Truro, conducted by the Rev. Richard Hempenius. Burial was made in Union cemetery.

Ashley A. Dudney, son of Abraham and Laura Belle Dudney, was born August 25, 1890 in Madison County, Iowa and passed to his rest March 31, 1969, at the age of 78 years, 7 months and 6 days. He was married September 12, 1914 to Enid Audrey Shanon at Osceola, Iowa. On September 12, 1964 they celebrated their 50th anniversary in Sheridan, Wyoming with their brothers, sister, nieces and nephews.

They had lived in Madison County through their almost 53 years of married life. Ash, as he was known by his many friends, was a man who followed his creed “Honesty is the Best Policy.”

He had a talent for carpentry and helped with the remodeling of the Methodist Church in 1959 and was always interested in the churches.

He was a quiet unassuming man, a good husband and a friend to all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, 2 brothers and 2 sisters who died in infancy and an older brother “Si”, who died on October 11, 1918 while in the service of his country.

Funeral services were held April 2 at Kale Funeral Home at Truro with burial in the Union Cemetery.
