Yvonne “Bonnie” Adams, 81, of Lorimor, died Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at her home.

A memorial service in celebration of Bonnie’s life will begin at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 27, at the United Methodist Church in Lorimor with a luncheon to follow in the church hall.

Yvonne “Bonnie” Marine Bierce, daughter of Gayle and Mildred (Daub) Bierce, was born September 16, 1936, in Clarke County, Iowa. She attended school in Murray graduating from Murray High School in 1954. Bonnie married Darwin Keith Adams on November 17, 1957, in Osceola and to this union four children were born. This couple shared an amazing 52 years together and their love for each other was immeasurable.

Bonnie enjoyed being able to work from home while she raised her children. During these years she babysat, did foster-care and bookkeeping for the local Co-op and the City of Lorimor. After her children were raised, Bonnie enjoyed many years working as a teller at the United Federal Savings Bank in Winterset and upon retirement, Bonnie and Darwin enjoyed camping and traveling around the United States and abroad.

Bonnie was a loyal member of the United Methodist Church in Lorimor where she was active in the UMW. She was also a member of the Lorimor Boosters and on Wednesdays you could find Bonnie at the Lorimor Community Building with “Bonnie’s Quilters” who over the past seven years have created hundreds of adorable blankets and capes for young patients at Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines.

Bonnie was an amazing gardener who definitely had a green thumb and an eye for nature’s beauty. Her flower and vegetable gardens were something straight out of Better Homes and Gardens. Bonnie was also a wonderful cook whose baking skills were top drawer, whether it was a gooseberry pie, noodles or homemade bread, Bonnie could make them all well. In fact, when her family would visit, they would put in their order of their favorite for Bonnie to make for them during their visit.

Bonnie is survived by her four children, Deb (Steve) Moulin of Jacksonville, FL, Dennis (Linda) Adams of Lorimor, Jody Adams of Loveland, CO, Lisa (Kyle) Copeland of Colorado Springs, CO, four grandchildren, Ryan and Corey Moulin and Franklin and Ashley Haight, one great grandchild, Clare Carroll of Jacksonville, FL; three sisters, Millie O’Neal of Afton, Carol (Gerald) Brown of Lafayette, CO, Sharon Garity of Indianola, a brother, Larry Bierce of Omaha, NE, a sister-in-law, Evelyn Bierce of Murray, a brother-in-law, Lorain Adams of Cedar Falls; many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Darwin Adams who died March 24, 2010, and siblings, Dale Bierce, Everett Bierce, Clayton Bierce, Marilyn German and an infant brother, Michael.
