Ephraim Delong was born in the state of Ohio, July 14, 1814 and died at his home eight miles north of Osceola, Sunday, November 1, 1896, aged eighty-two years, three months and seventeen days. He came to Iowa over twenty years ago, residing in Clarke county.
He was united in marriage in 1836 to Hannah Engler. To them were born ten children, of which six now survive him, four girls and two boys. His wife preceded him nine years ago to the heavenly home.
He united with the Christian church when twenty-three years of age, was baptized and was an earnest Christian until death. Father Delong was beloved by all who knew him and had not an enemy. He died in triumph of a living faith in Christ. The funeral services were held at his home November 2nd, at 11 A. M. conducted by the writer. Text, 2nd Timothy, 4th chapter, 7-8 verses. His remains were taken to the cemetery near Truro and laid to rest beside his wife to await the general resurrection
